The Heritage Project: Our Story, Our Future
This project, set up by the Sickle Cell Society with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, will chart a history of sickle cell disorders in the UK since the arrival of the Windrush generation. The project will record oral histories and will make available stories and memorabilia contributed by the participants. It is open to patients, carers, family members of patients, medical professionals and campaigners. Click the link below to find out more.
Sickle Cell Society UK
First set up as a registered charity in 1979, the Sickle Cell Society has been working alongside health care professionals, parents, and people living with sickle cell to raise awareness of the disorder. The Society’s aim is to support those living with sickle cell, empowering them to achieve their full potential.

South London Gives & Give Blood, Spread Love is the Sickle Cell Society’s blood donation awareness project. The project’s goals are to engage individuals and communities from African and Caribbean backgrounds to become aware of the need for ethnically matched blood to treat people with sickle cell disorder.
