National Haemoglobinopathy Panel

Following the stepping down of Professor Baba Inusa from his role as founding NHP Chair in March 2024, Professor John Porter, Deputy Chair kindly oversaw the organisation during the recruitment process for the Chair. On 19th November 2024, the recruitment of Dr Kate Gardner was completed and announced, with a start date set for January 2025.

Dr Gardner is a Consultant Haematologist at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital and obtained her PhD in the genomics of sickle cell disease at King's College London. She has extensive experience in sickle cell research and a strong background in data and computing. Dr Gardner has served in the steering group of the National Haemoglobinopathy Registry.
